New for 2019 is our new Aero range. We took our amazing carbon fiber FL series of wheels and put them on a diet. Which was not an easy task as we did not want to lose any of our FL range’s qualities Our FL range have been a great seller due to their combination of strength, weight, price, stiffness, and ability to slice through the wind.
So, when it came to designing the Aero series we knew that we had to deliver one of the greatest aero wheelsets ever. Our engineers worked hard and came up with a new 86mm deep carbon fiber rim. To become lighter than the FL series, we had to mix Toray T700 and T800 carbon fiber. In the end, we developed a lighter tubeless ready aero rim that will take you to new performance heights. Since you asked they are around 100g lighter per wheelset.
We didn’t stop there. We also worked on the brake track. Our new Aero range can tolerant to 300° of heat compared to the Fl series ability to deal with 240° of heat. You can now slow down as fast as these wheels will speed up.
We even went to work on the hubs. Our hubs are still precision sealed bearing units, but they are now lighter. On the front hub, we managed to remove two spokes, taking the hub from 20 down to 18 spokes. We accomplished this and have still kept the wheels super stiff.
To lace our new hubs to the new Aero rim, we enlisted the kelp of Sapim. We use their industry-leading CX-Ray spokes as they are as lightweight and stiff as we can find.
