Air Force Distinguished Service Medal Lapel Pin
Criteria: The Air Force Distinguished Service Medal (DSM) is granted to any member of of the U.S. Air Force that has defined themselves by exceptional meritorious service to the U.S. government in a duty of great responsibility. This medal is generally granted only to officers that hold at least the rank of Major General. The DSM is often granted to senior Air Force generals, and was designed to replace the policy of granting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Air Force personnel. Until 1955, the original title of the decoration was Distinguished Service Medal (Air Force). After the Korean War, the medal was called by its current name.
