Viking history with Ireland and Scotland is extensive. The last few generations of Vikings born during the Viking era were often the child of a Celtic mother. Recent DNA studies are now showing that as many as 25% of the male Vikings who settled in Iceland had Celtic DNA as well as up to 50% of the women.
