Coast Guard Arctic Service Anodized Medal
Criteria:
The Coast Guard Arctic Service Medal (CGASM) is bestowed upon any member of the United States Coast Guard after they have preformed 21 days of duty (cumulative) North of the Arctic Circle. This service can either be at Sea or Ashore. For Flight personnel the award is authorized after 21 flight days North of the circle.
First created in 1976 the award was retroactively awarded to 1946. The award is issued one time only and there are no approved devices for the award. Certain non-Coast Guard personnel maybe eligible for the award on a case by case basis as long as they meet certain criteria and they have preformed significant duties in support of Coast Guard missions.
