Germany manufactured some huge war machines in WWII, and few were more impressive than the six super-heavy Mörser self-propelled howitzers that were manufactured by Rheinmetall-Borsig in 1940-1941. Weighing in at 124 tons and measuring 11.37m long, these siege mortars were fitted with either a 54cm- or 60cm-diameter short-barreled barrel. These weapons were known as the Gerät 041 and Gerät 040 respectively, and they were engaged in such operations as the invasion of the Soviet Union, the Battle for Sevastopol and the Warsaw Uprising. Now Dragon is offering, for the first time, a 4-in-1 kit of this fearsome weapon.

Why is it labeled a 4-in-1 release? Well, both the 54cm and 60cm versions are available, with the correct mortar barrels provided for both types. Furthermore, the chassis of the weapon is available in a lowered version for firing mode, and a higher one configured for transportation. Thus, modelers have any of four options when choosing to build their Mörser self-propelled howitzer. To cap it all off, Dragon also offers a >Bonus set of German crewmen to operate the weapon, each figure specially designed to fit the Mörser as he goes his business around the artillery piece. The original self-propelled siege mortar was huge, and Dragon’s totally versatile 1/35 scale kit makes the options as wide as possible too.
