In India, bells are considered very sacred items and are often placed at the entrance to temples. The bells, or ghantas as they are called in Sanskrit, are struck as a worshiper enters the temple in order to attract the attention of the Creator. Our traditional style temple ghanta has a cylindrical shape with a domed top and hung from natural rope cord.
