Austria-Hungary fought Serbia in the south, Russia in the northeast, Romania in the east, Italy in the west, and simultaneously faced the prospect of French and British assistance for her enemies. From choked Alpine passes, to wide Russian steppe, to Serbian hills, Hungarian infantry struggled in some of the most intense-and largely forgotten-battles of WWI.
