Moon Infant Cremation Urn
Inspired by the illustrations by Nicoletta Ceccoli in the book The Girl In the Castle Inside the Museum, this moon infant urn is turned by hand from maple.
The hand-carved crescent moon rises above the vessel that seems to be wrought of the night sky itself. The richness of the finish that included layering dyes, milk paints, and carnauba wax can be seen in the image gallery. The lid fits into the bottom is of turned maple with a cork lining to seal the vessel shut. Both the moon and the lid have been treated with a distressed milk paint and carnauba wax finish.
