A little history
Like many states, it took Nevada several decades before instituting a state flag following the Civil War... And then it took four tries and nearly another century for the Sagebrush State to come up with this current version.
After Nevada became a state in 1864 (36th), this gateway to California first established a Silver and Gold state flag in 1905 under the lead of Governor John Sparks and Colonel Harry Day... The fourth -- and current version -- is much different from the original.
The cobalt blue field represents loyalty to the United States... In the upper left quarter are symbols of the state, beginning with a large five-pointed silver star represents the Silver State... A golden scroll with the words "Battle Born" display over the star, emblematic that Nevada became a state during the Civil War... The word Nevada curls underneath... Sprays of the Sagebrush -- the State Flower -- form a half wreath to complete the symbol.
The flag of Nevada is for sale in our U.S. States collection and goes a step beyond the "average" in terms of detail, durability and construction
