A little history

Wisconsinites takes pride in their cheese, farms and meats. They are always moving "forward" as the state motto claims... Yet this flag design is a simple, true design bears the state Coat of Arms on a field of dark blue.

The Wisconsin Coat of Arms, which is also featured on the state seal, is ripe with busy symbolism of its land and people... A badger, a sailor and a miner... A golden seal of trades in the center -- anchor for navigation, arm and hammer for manufacturing, pick and shovel for mining and a plow for agriculture.

The United States motto "E Pluribus Unum" (Out of all, One) is emblazoned on there... the 13 lead ingots to represent the mining again and honor the original 13 colonies... The cornupcopia or horn of plenty is a nod to agriculture.

The State of Wisconsin was admitted to the union in 1848... the design came into use just after the Civil War, but it wasn't officially adopted until 1913 when a number of states were coming up with official flags around the 50th anniversary of the Civil War.

So own a symbol of a great state that spans from the state of Minnesota to two of the Great Lakes -- Lake Michigan and Lake Superior -- with a well-built flag for Badgers.
