Yggdrasil is vital in the Viking and Norse Mythology. It is an immense mythical ash tree that connects the nine worlds, or the universe, in Norse cosmology.
The nine worlds where the roots are connected to, are: Asgard, the home of the main gods. Vanaheim, the world of nature. Midgard, also Earth. Alfheim, the world of the elves. At its base were three wells from which the tree was watered by the Norns. The wells were Urdarbrunnr, Hvergelmir and Mímisbrunnr. In the well Hvergelmir dwelt the monster Nidhogg.
